What if a sheet metal part could go directly from a CAD design to production, without the need for multiple machines, dedicated tooling and manual setup? AutoShape is working to make that possible with the CFE-350, an integrated laser-based machine designed to change how sheet metal parts are manufactured.
Born out of years of research at Aalborg University, AutoShape is developing a new approach to sheet metal forming, combining laser technology, automation and digital engineering to simplify the journey from design to finished part.
From academic research to a new manufacturing concept
AutoShape began with years of academic research into laser processing at Aalborg University. The research explored how process control, automation and integration could turn laser forming into a robust industrial technology.
The next challenge was to take that knowledge beyond the research environment and develop a machine that could bring the technology into practical use.
“Our vision at AutoShape is to push the boundaries of laser technology and engineering to transform how sheet metal parts are manufactured,” explains Morten Kristiansen, CEO at AutoShape.
As the company moved from research to machine development, it joined the SOLIDWORKS for Startups Program, gaining access to the engineering tools needed to develop its concept into a working solution.
